Can Somebody Explain In Laymens Terms About “umbrella Companies”?

I have been offered a job to work for a company through an agency but
I am a bit sceptical as some thing was mentioned about it being an umbrella company and I was wondering about how I would get paid and how it would affect my tax and national insurance.
